16th Annual Fleet Week More than 3,500 Sailors and Marines off 18 ships from five nations will highlight the 16th annual Fleet Week in New York City beginning May 21, 2003. Fleet Week includes more than 250 unique events, ranging from inter-ship athletic competitions to receptions, concerts and tours. New York City sponsors Fleet Week, with extensive participation by the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard, Intrepid Sea*Air*Space Museum, the Navy League, Staten Island Fleet Week, USO, and many other organizations. Nine U.S. Navy ships are participating in Fleet Week 2003 including: three guided missile cruisers, three frigates, an amphibious transport ship, two dock landing ships, and a research vessel.
