Victory Motorcycle Show 2001 - 2002
The 2001 International Bike Show, Manhattan
December 30, 2001

In the early 1990s, motorcycles were a “what if?…” topic of discussion among executives at Polaris Industries Inc. Today, the answer to those “what if” discussions is the history-making Victory Motorcycles division of Polaris.
As one of the world’s leading manufacturers of recreational off-road vehicles, Polaris was well-positioned to become the first new U.S. manufacturer of full-sized motorcycle in over 60 years. The company has the required engineering and manufacturing capabilities, and a staff that loves to ride. Developmental work began on the first Victory in 1994, and the first Victory test “mule”—an early prototype used for extensive testing—was built in 1995. On February 19, 1997, Polaris announced its plans to enter the motorcycle business, and on June 26 of that year, the Victory V92C was introduced. Victory drivetrains (V-twin engine and five-speed transmission) are assembled in Osceola, Wisconsin, and final assembly is done in Spirit Lake, Iowa, where the first production model was built on July 4th, 1998. “The New American Motorcycle” is a history maker and an award-winner: The V92C was named “Best Cruiser” by Cycle World magazine in 1998, and won “Cruiser of the Year” honors from Motorcycle Cruiser magazine in 1999.
